This course is a quick step by step instructional guide to using Sigil and iBooks Author in order to produce ebooks in both the ePub format as well as the popular iBooks format.

This course is meant to be a quick start guide to creating eBooks with these two software. You will quickly learn how to create different chapters in your eBook, generate Table of Contents, insert Text and Images and later on Video and Audio. Also covered are how to create a Cover Page and adding both Internal and External Hyperlinks to your eBook.
Note that I am not covering the publishing aspects of eBooks. But perhaps this topic can be added in the future.

SIGIL
Sigil can be downloaded from http://code.google.com/p/sigil/
To add a chapter, select File - Add - Blank HTML File.
You can copy and paste text into the different chapters.
Select the heading, and click on H1 to make it Heading 1 format.
To generate Table of Contents, select Tools - Table of Contents - Generate Table of Contents.
Click on the + icon to add your image files first.
Images can be inserted using Insert - File.
Click on the + icon to add your audio files first.
Audio can be inserted using Insert - File.
Click on the + icon to add your video files first.
Video can be inserted using Insert - File.
Use Tools - Add Cover to add a cover page to your eBook.
Use Tools - Metadata Editor to add Metadata to your eBook.
Use Insert - Link to add external hyperlinks.
Use Insert - Link to add internal hyperlinks.
Use Insert - ID too add an ID to particular place in your eBook.
